Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows

Our engineers have decades of experience with both Windows Desktop and Server, Automation, Deployment and Configuration, we can help you with your set up, no matter what version of Windows you’re using, what you’re using it for, or what products you’re using to automate it (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.).

Whether you need to launch auto-scaled, IIS servers, joined to a domain and with High Availability, or you just need to be able to speed up your launch times in the cloud, you can count on us to perform.

Call us today, or fill out a contact form to discuss the issue you’re facing, with no obligation to go further. We offer solutions and services, not a hard sell.

Git

Git

Moving to git from another version control system and need some training and guidance? Then you should get in touch. Teaching developers who are used to other version control systems, how to use git, is one of our specialities.

Do you need to integrate Git with your CI pipeline? Should your Jenkins server be checking for changes in your repositories and deploying a build? Do you need a High Availability central Git repository, but you want to keep your code out of Github? Whatever your requirements with Git, we can give you guidance and offer engineering skills to get you going quickly, with best practices and fully prepared for your project.

CentOS

CentOS

If you need stability more than features and you’d like to use Red Hat Linux, but without the licence fee, then CentOS is probably for you. Built from Red Hat source code, with additional features packed in, CentOS is as its name implies, a “Community Enterprise Operating System”.

Deployments in the AWS Cloud, may benefit from using Amazon Linux instead, which is Amazons own version of CentOS, all the stability of CentOS, combined with the innovation of Amazons own EC2-Tools.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu

An incredibly popular and versatile operating system, with commercial support options and years of development behind it, Ubuntu is a great choice.

Whilst many companies will opt for more corporate options, like RHEL, SUSE or Windows, Ubuntu can be the perfect choice for various different technologies. Chef, OpenVPN, Zabbix, Zimbra, Apache, all of these products work exceptionally well with Ubuntu. Just as well, if not better (in some cases) as they do with RHEL.

Canonical, the company who make Ubuntu, are very Open Source focussed. Their intent is to produce an excellent, Open Source product, for everyone to use, whilst providing those who wish to pay the extra for commercial support contracts, with an avenue to do so.

Chef

Chef

Whether you’re Automating the cloud, or the deployment of desktops in the office, Chef is an automation god-send. Configuration Management that allows you to do as much, or as little as you like, Chef is a popular choice with sys-admins, developers and dev-ops engineers, the world over. Open Source software, that enables the configuration, deployment and automated maintenance of just about any software you can think to use.

We specialise in the use of Chef for automating the cloud, whether it’s AWS, Rackspace or OpenStack, we can streamline and perfect your cloud environments using Chef.

Ansible

Ansible

Relatively new to the world of ‘Configuration Management’, Ansible is the ‘new boy’, the ‘upstart’. It’s one of the most versatile and ‘plain speaking’ configuration management systems available today. With numerous ‘playbooks’ readily available, it hard to find a subject that Ansible can’t cover, comprehensibly and completely, with little to no effort. It offers the ability to control systems centrally, whether you want to pay for their central server system (Tower), or not.

Open-Stack

Open-Stack

An Open Source Cloud Solution, for use with your own hardware. Unlike Google Compute Engine (Google Cloud) , Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure (Windows Cloud), Open Stack is not a public cloud. Instead, it is a private cloud, which you can install, configure and use with your own existing hardware.

If you’ve already got your own datacentre, or you’re intrigued by the cloud, but not so impressed with the public cloud solutions available to you at the moment, then Open Stack could be for you. Rather than being something that’s exposed to the web by default and only protected by layers of software, Open Stack is instead a fully featured virtualisation solution, designed with cloud technologies in mind from the start, for the more discerning early adopter.

With Open Stack, whilst the initial outlay can be higher, if you don’t currently have the hardware to run it on this is, the long term TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) figures are much more palatable, than some of the public cloud costs that can be incurred.

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services

The father of the public cloud, Amazon Web Services is the oldest, most robust, tried and tested Public Cloud system out there. With what is now a decade of existence, it has been developed and honed into what it is today, THE Public Cloud of choice for millions of customers.

No project too large, or too small, we can get you onto the cloud and reaping the benefits. Whether your goal is cost savings, high availability, disaster recovery, or auto-scaling to cope with load, Brighter Technology and Amazon Web Services, are the partnership you should look to for both guidance and hands on engineering.
